What a great day it was. It got up to +10c/+50F which broke some new temperature records. maybe there really is something to global warming? The law which states "A SPOT IS NEVER REALLY HUNTED OUT" prevailed. I hunted in the woods for a couple of hours and worked up a good sweat. I found a small cache of 28 pennies buried underneath a tree, a brass piece off what might have been a trumpet and a couple of forks near some old canning jar lids.....probably an old picnic site.

One of the forks was silver, so I cut, whacked, bent, swore a couple of times and polished up a nice signet spoon (fork) ring. it's been a while since I dug up some silver cutlery....but it's out there.

Below is a pic of the brass end off a trumpet. It appears to have a few years on it and some nice ornate designs.

Wow, that made a REAL nice ring!! Woudln't it be cool if you could find the family of the person who lost that fork and whipped that ring out for them? There would have been more than just a couple of curses if it had been me attempting something like that!!!

C......H.......Silver :shrug::unsure:

Nice work on that ring.
How did the pennies date out??

A friend of mine and I buried a small wooden box on our old home place some 56 yrs ago next to a pond beside a tree.. I know right where it is.. My friend died back in the 90's..
The lady that bought the place still lives there.. Never since buying it would she ever let me back on it, or anyone else.. I'm sure it was just some silly odds and ends but I would still love to get back in there and dig it's contents up.. Sure the box rotted away yrs ago..
Sorry, your penny cache just brought back that hot summer day we buried our cache..

J/E Good Job Nice Relics, Mic
