Hunt coming up this weekend and no CTX

I sent my CTX in last monday for repair, called today, havn't started on it. I was just told that it takes 10-15 business days...I leave friday...5 hour drive for a organized group hunt...no CTX...if it rains no detecting...weekend wasted. Bought the machine 12 days ago... got a couple of hours with it...sucks for me

It started with wireless module not pairing at first and whilst talking to the minelab tech had had me do a factory reset. The machine would not respond to the reset procedure so the tech concluded that the control unit was bad.

Just sent mine in today. It worked fine before it didn't work at all. Sad part is the machine didn't have much detecting time logged on it before it stopped working. Someone said it correctly when they said it sucks. Am I the only one that thinks when you spend big money for a high end machine the machine should live up to your expectations, both in performance and durability? Personally, I'm a firm believer that if it starts out as a lemon it will continue to be a lemon even after being worked on.

That is what I'm worried about, a lemon forever...

I have sympathy for you but you can have confidence they will do right by you. It is disheartening when an expensive high tech item gives you problems right away but it is a man made thing and man made things can and will have problems sometimes that is why they give a guarantee. Keep us abreast of how it goes.

Hate to hear about both of you being in a bind without your CTX. I hope they do y'all right too. However, I would put the machine through a hard workout to see if they fixed it. If the lemon gives juice then pucker up and spit it out.

Not to rip on you speedy but I thought you just got a xp deuc. Now here you are with a ctx. Or was with a ctx.

What did you not like about the deuc?

I hope they send yours back all fixed and with a 17" coil hanging off the end.

I will borrow you mine if you live around Davenport Iowa, I'm working all weekend.

Good luck buddy.

Would it work if you just pluged the hadphones into the unit? If so would that have got you thru the weekend.

I believe Minelab is a top notch company and they make some of the best metal detecting machines on the market. But with that said, let me make this example. If you went out and bought one of the most expensive large screen TVs on the market from a very reputable company, took it home and it only worked for a few hours, then quite. Would you take it back to the company you bought it from demanding either your money back or a replacement TV, or would you be satisfied to send the TV off to the manufacture for repair?

I still have the Deus and I took it out yesterday afternoon...the minus button works intermittently...this machine is just a few weeks older than the CTX...now it needs to be looked at...so as expected I'm steaming

I sent my WM in 2 weeks ago because when I started it up it sounded wonky and was working intermittently with my headphones. They sent me a new WM and I couldn't be happier. Took maybe a week for the new WM to get here. Couldn't be happier with their customer service.

Wireless interfaces, push-pad controls, waterproofing, GPS - every additional feature adds an additional potential failure point. Having said that, digital electronics are inherently less likely to "go out of adjustment" than older analog machines with 6 or 8 internal adjustments to align at the factory.

As far as getting a new detector if you are dissatisfied for the one you got, not likely in this business. The idea of having a replacement on demand is limited to mass-market retailers and just doesn't exist outside the world of "big box" retailers.

I would take it back to the store...

I do see a lot of posts all over the internet about faults on the ctx ,mine has worked perfect for 6 months and it has had a lot of use. Touch wood...

Don't feel bad guy, I sent mine in for a screen problem a week ago. Yes 10-15 days is the order. Do any of you guys that had to ship your detector in ever get reimbursed by Minelab for the shipping of your detector to them? If the detector is still covered, well I feel that they should cover the basic ground service back to them. Hum.
