Hunt #2...... I'm sold.....

I read some of the manual last night and made a few changes even though I said I would not mess with them. The backlight on 4 really helps in the sun and shade...... I went Auto +2 on sensitivity, +3 started falsing. I turned on Target Trace and Target Trace Pinpoint and got the Audio settings just where I want them. I got the Tone ID set up the way I like for Combined and Target Separation is Ferrous-Coin. Ready to go and back to the test park.

After about an hour, I got a high tone and low tone alternating no matter which way I swung the coil and when I looked at the screen there were two targets, one in the coins and one in Iron and I thought............ too cool, this can't be, but 6 inches deep was a cut nail and a 1890 IH a half inch apart. 20 minutes later a similar scenario except both were in the coin range and I was getting a one way good tone, one 12-35 and the other to the right smearing up around 12-45. My guess was trash and target under the coil and right I was. Can slaw at three inches and another Indian, 1899 at the 6 inch mark. I know darned well that I have walked over those Indians and heard nothing but a null before. Playing with the CTX is just too much fun and the finds are a bonus. I had a  all the way home.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing.
I'm wondering, did you find the sound settings very similar to those on the etrac?

Thanks
Ken

Good hunt Larry. Thanks for sharing your experience. Looks like you've become very well acquainted with your CTX 3030 in a very short period of time!!! It's going to be a whole new ball game at the old parks! HH Randy

I had an E-Trac for a short time, I used the SE far more because of the flutie silver tones (I will miss that). I would be a poor judge of the tones and how they can be set up on the ET but I know you have many choices. I have the CTX tones in Combined 5 tones which is more in line with the White's V3i and 4 tones of the Deus that I am very familiar with so it is an easy transition for me. From what little I know about the ET, the CTX is probably like the ET but with more flexibility.

I just love the CTX. Its super sensitive and really can pick out the good targets

Love those Indians, congrats Larry!

I'd love to see an actual video of the CTX compared to the Etrac an a signal like you mentioned.
Can you do that?

Just think... ther 52 places we've hunted out that almost never stop at now...

I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK TO THEM w/my 3030 :)

Sorry,I don't take videos but it seems like I have seen a video on multi-targets. Minelab site maybe?

Larry I got a feeling your V3 is going to have a lonely summer.:poke:

I hear that. My V3i wont be lonely, because its on its way to NH. I am awaiting the CTX to be shipped.:detecting:

Great news and thanks for sharing. I think Minelab has been zeroed in for years on where the old coins now live: hidden amongst iron. The easy pickens were taken years ago. Looks like the 3030 is the next generation of silver sniffers in iron.
