Hunt 16 2008

I don't know what is going on with these half dollars this year but in 16 hunts I've found more than I did all last year. If you look at pic two, you should see the one half that came out of the ground so bright that I was sure it was silver. Alas it is clad but I'm still tickled. A few feet away I found the 1954 quarter. Was sure I would find more silver as all the items I was finding were old. Look at the old lock and the old metal Chlorox and Veto Deodorant lids. No more but I'm going back soon! I am in a serious wheat penny drought. None in about 2 weeks.

Also of note is the St Jude metal that is probably silver plated copper. That's a new religious medal for my book!

Town workers were also draining the ice skating pond which I am looking forward to detecting when it dries out. Probably around July!

16 hunts and broke 100 bucks in loot. I think 2008 is looking bright!

Chris

The lock is labeled Miller. Anybody know anything about them? It looks like it's brass.

Fantastic finds!!!!

How about sharing the sort of location you were hunting. Dont tell us any secrets but just general details that would be of use to all of us.

Great finds. That lock is too cool. I have only found one half dollar. that quarter is really old.............hey wait.........that's my birth year...........

Very nice finds indeed.

It's a park. A few ballfields. Fireworks once a year, not on 4th of July, though. Some winter activities like ice skating but not so much since our town opened an indoor skating arena. I think before it was a park they made bricks there. I've found a few silver coins there over the years. No jewelry except for the St Judes medal today. Lots of neat old relics, like the lock.

80-90 percent of my hunting is parks and schools.
