I was at one of my favorite spots a little while ago and I was considering several options for the days hunt (it's a very large, diverse area). A small patch of ground that I'd walked by many times caught my eye. It was anything but optimal..steep hill, deep clutter, very visible public area...all the factors that usually cause me to hunt elsewhere. Still, from what I've learned about the area along with my finds it all added up to a possibly key location....and there was just SOMETHING telling me to give it a shot. 5 min's into the 10 min hunt...under the clutter, an old log and about 3" of dirt (about 7-8" total) I found this old, sterling silver belt buckle. I was using the 6x10, optional relic mode, gain@ +2+ that gave me a High 80's VDI that bounced around a little. My point is it sure seems to me that when I follow-up a hunch they very often pay off. The more tenuous the hunch, the more exciting the find it seems. Maybe I just remember the successful ones and forget about the countless dry holes. Anyone else notice this to be the case...? I'd love to hear the stories...
