Hum in headphones

Steady? Is the threshold or another hum? Does it quit when a target signal is hit? Minelab headset? Have you tried another headset? Does it hum when you are plugged into the wireless? Noise cancel?

First thing I would do is see if it is still there even when a target is detected and a target tone is generated. Then try another headset. Then clean the headset prong, and the receptacle and try again. Next, bring up the wireless WM10 and plug it into that. If the hum is NOT the threshold setting and it is consistent when only plugged into the main box, I would contact Minelab.

I got a steady hum in headphones when connected by wire , is this normal?

It's called a "threshold" and its supposed to be there. You can change it in the settings. Have you downloaded and and read the owners manual yet?

Volume Gain, Threshold Level, Volume Limit and Threshold Pitch settings for the detector’s internal speaker, headphones, wireless speaker and wireless headphones are independently adjustable via the Audio menu. That means you should set up the levels you want for each, individually, based on which audio device you are using.
