That's a pretty cool token. Not to old but a good find. Wonder how it got so deep?
Good luck Gary
Gary The soil in those school yards normally is soft very easy to dig until the dry season starts i weighed the token 23.5 g it is possible it sank that deep i find silver merc,s and rosies that deep once i found a man,s HS Grad ring 1972 8 inches down and returned ,anything after 7 or 8 inches you hit hard pack . Great find. I would have thought for sure it was going to be old being that deep! Last week I dug a great coin signal and I see copper large cent sized object at this old house lot! Thought for sure it was going to be a large cent but it turned out to be a plain copper disc with two small holes in the center. Man, it's been a while since I've dug a large cent. I think I've got a total of about 10 or 15 of them, but it's been probably 5 years or so since I dug one. They are hard to find at public sites because they are so big and thus many have already been found by others. That is, unless it's hiding under some iron or other trash or super deep. I was just looking at my best large cent today. 1848 and no wear on it at all. It had a rust stain on the back from a nail. Found it an an empty corner lot a while back. For sure my best of those. No pitting either. I think it must have been dropped the year it was minted because it shows zero wear.
