Well-known member
Finds are from hunts on Saturday and Today with my new 5th Generation NEL Tornado Coil that arrived last week.
The 1913 State Fireman's Association Convention Badge Was found at a depth of 10 inches on Saturday. I was very lucky I didn't nick it because of its size.
The St Louis Padlock also had some good depth. Saturday was a 9 silver day. I hunted today with Silver King and got some additional finds.

Also found was an old ring, The top of a kids ring (crossed pistols), Part of a Zippo lighter, a Girl Scout Brownie pin and a few additional buttons.

Quarter is 1944.
Silver dimes are 1916,1918,1923,1924, 1927,1929,1940,1942,1943,1953,1964.
Nickels are 1914,1920,1936.
Wheat Pennies are back to 1918.

9 Silver day?!!! Impressive.
Nice lock too. An old lock is a find that has alluded me so far.
They seem to be a somewhat regular find on the forums but I can't seem to score one.

I live in Pennsylvania, home of Zippo. I think the company is now officially called Case/Zippo being that they manufacture Case knives at that same location.

A few years ago I saw a sort of a documentary about Zippo/Case that aired on public television. One of the things that the company prides themselves on is their unconditional guarantee. They guarantee that the lighter will work for the life of the product no matter who owns it.

I decided to put them to the test. On two different occasions we have found Zippo lighters while detecting. One was a Pittsburgh Steelers lighter that was probably from the 70's and the other was a relatively new butane Zippo. The Steelers lighter was pretty beat up and the thumb wheel was bound up. The butane lighter was in in ok condition but again, the thumbwheel would not move. I sent both lighters back to Zippo and in less than two weeks they were both returned in perfect working order! They even included some spare flints along with a small business card sized card that shows you how to date a Zippo lighter. What they don't guarantee is the finish of the lighter. Most all Zippo are just a shell that has an insert down inside of it that houses the fuel tank, chimney, striker and wick. In both of the lighters that I sent back they pulled out the insert and installed new guts in the outer shell. My guess is that if they cannot pull out the insert they would probably send you a new basic model Zippo.

Keep this guarantee in mind when you guys find a Zippo. Unless you want to save it in the condition that you found it in, go ahead and send it in and have them re-work it. Trust me, the condition that the above lighter is in is not any worse than the ones that I saw in the documentary. They had some that people had sent in that were hit by a lawnmower and another one that took a bullet.

"Every Zippo product is guaranteed with an unconditional lifetime guarantee: Any Zippo product, when returned to its factory, will be put in first-class mechanical condition free of charge, for Zippo has yet to charge a cent for repair of a Zippo product, regardless of age or condition. The finish, however, is not guaranteed."

HEY F.P.D.

Another amazing hunt for sure. They used to have that show on called Diggers you put those two clowns to shame.

Well done my friend and keep them coming.
