How's This For Separation!

RLOH

Well-known member
I got out yesterday morning and I had a target that demonstrates the C$'s separation abilities. I was getting a high tone and medium tone with numbers jumping between 10 and 24, depending on what angle I came from. Usually this mean pulltab or some other junk, but I decided to dig it. The target pinpointed at around 30 and I found a wheat penny about 7 inches. I recanned the hole and I got the 10 and 25 numbers again. Next coin was the best condioned Buffalo nickle that I have ever dug. Part of the coin was actually like new where it was covered with the penny. Next coin was another wheat. The Buffalo was actually sandwiched between the two wheat pennies and both sides were in super condition where it was covered by the pennies. I can't think of any detector that would be fast enough to do what the C$ did. The Buf was a 1927 and the pennies were 1924 and 1925. I was hunting along a major road that must have some pretty powerful power lines because when I got to the section of the field closest to the road, the C$ got extremely erratic. I had the sensitivity down to 5 and it banged these coin hard. I have to keep reminding myself that a sens of 5 will find coins 7 to 8 inches deep. R.L.

Good post RL. The Coinstrikes' (and ID Edge) ability to accurately read co-located targets like that has always amazed me. I quickly learned that anytime you get a blip of a good tone or reading it bears investigating and if it can be made to repeat ya better dig.

Congrats!

The C$ will still go deep even with the sens on "0". I hit a silver dime at 5" once under a real nasty power line with the sens on "0". We also have a site that has RIDICULOUS RF interference, but since it was built in 1820 we hunt it anyway ;) I had the sens on "0" and found a bunch of coins at 4-5" and a harmonica reed at 8"+. I was pretty impressed with the C$ on that one! Don't be afraid to back off on the sens and pound that place again
