How well does the CoinStrike work for hunting jewelry in the wet sand and shallow surf?

Used a Coinstrike and found some nice silver with one and if it didn't keep calling rusty bottle caps coins probably would have kept it as if you got thru the learning period nice unit, sorry never used one in salt sand beaches so can't add any info.
I will say a CZ was one of the best I used on N.J. salt sand beaches but of course it had a salt mode which the Coinstrike doesn't have and judging by no input may not be a good machine for what you plan on using it for...

I use mine all the time over on the east coast of Florida and will wade out to about knee deep when it's not to rough and slow swing the Coinstrike. Now, if you hit black sand, you will have to drop the sensitivity down to as low as 2, but don't worry, at 2 the Coinstrike is still getting a good 6 inches. Just remember to ground balance again when you go from dry to wet sand. I also run with ground tracking on most of the time so I don't have to GB quite as much. I also hip mount my Coinstrike which makes it light as a feather to swing. I dig mostly everything at the beach so I don't worry about target ID or pinpointing.

By the way, the Coinstrike LOVES bottle caps I reckon because their shaped like coins. Now the Coinstrike IS NOT as sensitive to small targets as the T2 is, like finer necklaces or bracelets, but it will hold it's own with any CZ. The drawback with a T2 at the beach is the feedback & falsing. I have tried two T2's and liked then for land hunting but not for the beach and I didn't like them as much as my Coinstrike or CZ's.

If you want a multi-task machine and are willing to put in the time to learn the machine which for me took a good 40-50 hours before I really became accustomed to it then the Coinstrike would serve you well. It really is a like or dislike machine, some like it and some dislike it.

Mike: Don't have but maybe 6 hrs. use on mine and I have tried the sens. 5 or higher for coin hunting. I haven't used it at the beach, but if I would only use it for dry sand hunting. I'm going to PM you some question. Thanks

Mike used one when they first came out and never hunted a saltwater beach do stand corrected, but do know a CZ handled the wet saltsand beaches well...Dan

drop your threshold down to -25 or lower if your getting a lot of feedback or chatter as I call it. The Coinstrike can be one noisy beast with the threshold near the + side if your not used to it. I think this was one of the hardest things for me to get used to. I was used to huting with CZ5's & CZ70 and WOW, they were like a silent machine compared to the Coinstrike.

I like to recommend to new Coinstrike users to try running with sensitivity @5 threshold @-25 or lower depending on your comfort, and descriminating out everything but Hi tones, or hi coin, tracking on, averaging off, and go to the least trashiest area you can find and ground balance. The star swinging, once your comfortable with it and start to feel confident with probably a couple to 10 hours or so then start playing around with it like uping the sesitivity, raising the threshold closer to the plus side and start notching in lower conductive targets.

that's why I own 2 CZ5's. My wife uses a CZ5 and has for quite sometime now and won't hunt with anything else and she consistantly out shines me. I would like to think it's the machine, but I think she's just better at it then me.

They both had the 8" coils. The CZ-3D smoked all the targets. The coin$stike struggled to hit them, and I know it was me with the set-up and lack of experience. I have been using different CZ-models for past 7 yrs. and I pretty well know them. I will try your suggestions. Thanks for your help.....

Mike, I have been thinking about a CZ3D. How does the sweep speed compare to the C$? The east coast is a "big" beach. I cannot help but think the the C$ response time has had alot to do with my sucess at the beach.

For supreme depth a CZ needs a slow swing speed, however on a beach a target can be an inch or a foot so will do quite well with a moderate
swing speed...If I hunted beaches like I did years ago the new sunray 12 inch coil would surely be on the end of my CZ for super coverage..
Never hunted beaches with a Coinstrike so will let a Coinstrike guy chime in but tolerates a faster swing speed on land...All units have their give and take aways...

I own a T2 and a F75 which are not good wet salt sand detectors. Of the different fisher CZ detectors which model would you recommend for wet beach sand detecting and as a backup to my T2 and F75. I have no experience with CZ detectors. Why and how does the does salt mode on a CZ-7 or CZ-70 function? Also which CZ's use 9 volt vs AA batteries?
One last question, are the coils on the CZ detectors good and waterproof?

Thanks, Bill

I use two Fisher detectors. A CZ-7a Pro (just as good as a CZ-70) with a SunRay 12" coil for the dry and wet sand, and shallow tame surf; and, a CZ-20 with a 10.5" coil for deeper water and untamed surf. Works for me.

I HAVE A CZ-5 AND IT WORKS WELL ON THE BEACH IN WET OR DRY SAND,AND SURF.SENSITIVITY USUALLY SET BETWEEN 8-10. CZ-20 VERY GOOD BUT HEAVY,AND NO METER.STANDARD 8INCH COIL JUST FINE. ONLY DRAWBACKS TO MACHINE ARE CANNOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PENNIES,DIMES,AND QUARTERS.WEIGHS CLOSE TO4LBS,BUT VERY WELL BALANCED. HOPE THIS HELPS.
