How well does a Cortes and Tejon perform for coins and jewelry in the dry and wet beach sand?

my Cortes at the beach once. It did pretty good in the dry sand. Only found a few coins in the dry area(lots of cans though!). In the wet sand, it was a much different story. Lots of falsing even at low sensitvity. Not sure if I had it set up wrong(Probably the case),or if there were too many black sand pockets(a strong possiblity too). Either way, I didnt ever get the chance to do it again. Never tried the Tejon at the beach. I'm not much of a beach hunter. The activity at the beach, here in Oregon, is pretty diffused. There are a few beaches were more people congregate, but more often than not, we tend to be a anti-crowd beach folk, tending to head toward a solitary beach experience. Sorry I cant be of more help though.

I searched two beaches with my Cortes,on one it just didn't behave itself anywhere near the wet sand yet on the other beach 13 miles away it ran as quiet as a mouse with 8 sens right out to the water's edge and the tide was full out at the time!?

Decided to search that first beach in all metal mode, turned the headphones down until I could just hear the hits without deafening myself and it worked out pretty well.
