how water proof are the coils

I am new to the hobby & was just wondering just how water proof the coils really are, I have a MXT and use a 4x6 & 6x10 dd coil. Anyone out there know the answer?

Thanks for the info, I bought my mxt used & only have the manual that was downloaded from the computer.

Hi Bula, Welcome to the wonderful world of the MXT! You shouldn't have any problems with the coils in water. The coils are made to be in water, but REMEMBER..... when you are detecting in water DON'T raise your coil above the control panel. It's NOT waterproof. I've detected in knee high water before with it and so far so good. I wish you the best of luck and this is a great place if you need information on your new toy! Nancy

So what coil do you use that doesn't want to float to the top and you have to hold down, the stock one?

I've used the stock and also the Big Foot in water. Yes, they do want to float, but I think we're all bigger than the coils and rods....
