How to

you do much the same. First thing is to change the size, as he says. I find that 640 on the long side is pretty good for the web.
Then I make any lightening or contrast changes I want and then click on file-save for web-choose low quality jpg and click ok. YOu can set it up for different quality but the low quality looks great on the web.
All you gotta do is ask <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock">

none of us are born with this information. Photoshop is a complicated program and it takes time. I have asked a lot of questions, bought books and played with it.
There is much I don't have a clue about but I will try to help with the little knowlege I have.
Another quickie. If you have a picture that is too dark, click on control-L. That will bring up a box with three sliders on it.
Move the left one to touch the black, the right one to touch the black and then move the middle slider until you get what you want. I use it all the time. There are other ways to do it but I use that one.

... I appreciate your wonderful comments. I know how difficult it is for beginners to tackle something as complex as Photoshop, and over the next few weeks, as time dictates, I will try to post a couple of tutorials that I hope will be helpful. The next one will be "How to tweak an image". I hope you like it. And thanks for your inspiration. I've been itching to do something like this for some time.

... I explain "Levels" in my next "How To" post coming soon, and I agree, It's a very good tool tor tweaking an image. Hope you will read it and comment.
