Here's how to winterize your metal detector. I happen to use Garrett, but you can utilize the same ideas and principals for whatever brand you use. All you really need are some old wool socks, some duck tape and some of those hot pacs, available at most outdoor sports stores.

Hey thats really cool! But what I want to know, is how to Winter-ize the shivering dude holding the detector. What's missing from your dissertation, is diffinately a large vacuum bottle of hot chocolate Burrrrrrrrrrrrr :surrender::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:
 
Snow isn't hard.....it's soft. Easy to dig with a relic shovel, and detectors get incredible depth with a snow matrix.
 
In the Winter, hands get cold, Burrrrr! OFF comes the rings and disappear in the snow, only to be found by Johns trusty metal detector. I'm going to remember that. :beers:
