I havent had this problem yet on my F70, but a friend has. I was able to resolve the problem, without modifying/altering anything. I can also show you how I did it.
First off, the small screw in the back side, up on top going into the S-rod within the battery compartment does NOT have anything to do with the tightness of the battery pack.
Here is a pic of the screw
. Dont bother tightening it as you may strip it out.
Take a 4 mm allen wrench and remove this bolt
. The threaded insert in the S-rod that the allen bolt goes into is the problem. It becomes loose and wobbles in the hole no matter how tight you make it. Here you see the wrench in the allen bolt removing it.
Here is the silver threaded insert in the S-rod that is the culprit allowing the battery box to wobble around
I thought of several options and this one is the best, safest, non modifying fix I decided on. I took a piece of vinyl tubing and measured the length to run the length under the s-rod which is above the battery pack .
I then took a razor knife and cut the tubing in half so it would fit the contour of the s-rod and laid it in between the battery box and the rod
I then re-assembled it and it was tighter than new
As we all know, this may or may not void your warranty. If you decide to do this 'fix' it will be done at your own risk etc etc etc. I will say, there is nothing really fragile to be careful of. Dont over tighten the allen bolt and all should be fine.
Hope this helps someone with a loose battery box and prevents you from having to ship it back.
