How to stop glare on the screen, a solution

A recent thread was brought up concerning glare on the screen of the explorer. It has been a major issue for me, and I think I have found a solution. It is a work in progress, and I thought you guys might like to help. Here are the instructions:

1. Go get some pantyhose from your wife or store. I used some black, which you will see below. Non-shiny is best. The question for experimentation here, is whether black, white, tan, blue, etc will work best, so, instead of wasting my money, I thought between all of us, we could surely manage to get all the colors tested.

2. cut out a 6 inch piece from one leg. pics 2 and 3.

3. Put the cut out piece over the head of the detector, covering the screen. Pic 4. Voila' Instant Sun Shade!

4. Enjoy.

Here is the questions that arise. Beyond the right color, will 2 layers work better in some conditions? If so, then make the piece 12 inches and double it back over the first. Will a combination of colors (i.e. black and blue) work better than one. I know that our vision is impacted by blue, so is Navy better than pale?

OK, I have so far just used the black, and it works! Give it a try, and then report back on your findings.

Great idea for glare reduction. I'll try it tomorrow if my wife cooperates. This is why this forum is so great. The members are innovative and deep thinkers. I am a new SE user and I probably would never have understood my SE had it not been for the hundreds of great posts I have read repeatedly and the sharing of knowledge among the group.

Hi Guys,
I have been looking for a laddered pair but only come up with holey ones and the holes are the same size as the screen i have put my foot in it must have had it at the wrong ankle.
Regards pinpointa in oz.

It would be hard to do a COMPARISON without ONE person doing the test...I do have a couple thoughts about this though...I think MAYBE the sheerest pair you could find might be best & maybe black NON-Shiney type...My reasoning for black is that it is the least reflective....I'm gonna try to find some & will let you know.... I think its a great idea though as the glare is probably on everybody's S#!T list...HH...TT

Isn't that the reason we go detecting, kind of like ice fishing? Seriously, that is a good idea. If there's one thing I don't like about the Minelab, it's the screen whether in the sun or not..it's just hard to see. I think they should have had black as their pixel color like White's machines.
