Hey everyone soon will be getting my ace 250 just wanted some pointers on how to get started ,, what mode what sen and discr. to start off with. i have found a good old park to start hunting in opened in the 1930's or before so what settings should i start with i don't want to dig pulltabs all day my 1st day,i know i will later when i start diggin all holes but not my 1st day out...

Thanks all any helpfull pointers from anyone

After watching the included video a couple times I started by putting the detector in all metal mode just to find a clean area of ground in my own backyard. Then I switched to coin mode and tossed a nickle and quarter on the ground to practice pinpointing and listening to the sounds. After I could pinpoint the coins repeatedly while looking at them I taped the same coins to the backside of a piece of cardboard and tried again. I would pinpoint and then push a screwdriver through the cardboard to see how accurate I was. After I got good at pinpointing in my own backyard I decided to try the nearest barkchip playground. Playgrounds are a good place to start because its easy digging and if your pinpointing isn't the greatest you won't make such a mess as you would in dirt. Use coin mode or jewelry mode to start. I still use jewelry mode most of the time.

P.S. Unless you are only after coins and not gold rings and other goodies you will need to dig tons of pull tabs. You can't find much good stuff if you don't dig the trash also. Good luck and have fun. It is a great hobby.

Coin mode. Sensitivity at 5 bars. Dig repeatable beeps. Keep coil low and level. Overlap your sweeps by 50%.

You may want to invest in a pinpointer to speed up location of your dig after you've found your target with the ace.:garrett:
