I live in central North Carolina and was wondering, what is the best way to find old maps or anything to show where old homesites once where?

You want to find plat maps or county atlases for the time period you are interested in, like the mid to late 1800's. You can Google, try your courthouses, library or historical societies would be a great start. Some people use historicmapworks.com for info as well.
