HOW TO REMOVE A COIL COVER

New member
Can someone tell me where I can find an article about how to do this without damaging the machine I would be very obliged, thanks oneill

Always start at the heal of the coil if it's the web type. I use my fingernails to pull with. If you don't have strong fingernails, use something else. Maybe, a spool or something similar. Once I get it started, I use the pry handle on my nail chippers. I insert it in between the coil and cover and slowly and gently work it all the way around the coil.

That should do it.

Here is a thread with a video that was put up on this forum a few weeks back:

I just removed what I thought was a glued on coil cover by using the following method.I have some wooden ice cream poles one of which I managed to insert at the heal, taking another which I gently worked all the way around until it popped, total time 30 seconds from start to finish much to my delight and amazement. It wont have to be removed again as I intend to seal it with removable sealant to stop anything getting in.Sorry I dont have a means of showing it on Youtube, maybe someone else will try that for me.Oneill

Use a hammer and a small block of hard wood. Tap, tap, tap the edge lightly all around. It slides off little by little.

The same way you separate those 5 gallon buckets when they are hopelessly stuck together. Compressed air! One shot with a blow gun and they pop right apart.
