How to protect your MXT during inclement weather ???

Currently beach hunting. Finding lots of stuff with MXT; Its a great machine for me and I really don't know what i'm doing yet. Situation --- Having to duck in & out from beachhead due to heavy rains coming from the Gulf. Any TIPS for weatherproofing MXT / protecting from downpour in case you get caught in the elements ? ? Don't want to damage equipment. I carried a couple of plastic grocery bags in my cargo pocket to wrap controls etc. in case of emergency. What do you pros suggest ? Thanks and I appreciate everyone's input. EJ

You can get a nice cordura cover for your electronics box, a good sandwich bag fits the control pod like a glove, and you can still use your controls. You could also plastic wrap electronics box if you wanted, there's no heat coming out of it, so venting is not an issue. If you do that remove the wrap after hunting to prevent condensation.

The plastic sack idea is the best as it covers the whole box . I have a whites cover for mine but its only dust proof not water proof the water can still get in around the holes where the knobs are so the sacks is the best water proofer I have seen to date . they do have covers for the meter part and they cover pretty good nothing sticking out there .

When i had my mxt, i cut a bumper sticker to cover the speaker holes, (whites sells the same thing really cheap) and a sandwitch bag for the screen.

Its easy to cover the screen in various ways along with the speaker holes on the box, however the box itself is not waterproof even though its design lets you hunt in mild rain. Even box covers from Whites are dust covers at best but do keep the box like new..In addendum hunting in a hard rain unless you cover the box with a water tight cover taking a chance as one drop of water inside the unit is a sure way to have your unit off for repair.
