How to protect your MXT and headphones in event of rain?

Canewrap

Say you were at an organized hunt and it started to rain on the first day. How would you protect your MXT? How would you protect the headphone jack and the headphones against moisture?

#1 they make a waterproof protector for the MXT and if you don't have one, you can always use a smaller clear baggie and tie the end around the main unit. I've done this before when it was raining and at a seeded hunt. The coil is waterproof. #2 about the headphones....... Guess wear a hooded jacket or poncho. You can buy a plastic poncho at any dollar store. Hope that helps. Nancy

Nancy who makes the cover for the MXT? Rob

White's makes the cover for the control box and then there's an after-market cover for the display. Sorry I don't know who it is, but I bet you could "google" it. I've got an extra bag or two that I could send you. But the twisty ties will cost you. If I find any info on it, I will let you know. Nancy

Hey Canewrap, I know KELLYCO has the after-market covers, but if WHITES is now making them, then I would purchase a WHITES COVER!! When I first owned an MXT, WHITES Only Made a Cover for the DFX & XLT. Those detectors have No Knobs or Toggle Switches on the Control Box. Best of luck, Les Robinson

Nancy I've been using a bag at the beach (mist) and in the rain. They work well for me but I thought a cover would be neater. I've seen these covers by Whites but not one for the MXT (knobs). Rob

Hmm, There was a dealer at one of the planted seeded hunts in Iowa that sold them. We thought they were White's. Maybe we should make a pattern, switch them up and sell them. Sealed rubberized covers for the knobs so they can be turned. I'll see what I can find out Rob.
