How to open CZ70 control housing

I would like to implement the iron disc relic hunting mod that was posted here a while back on my CZ70. I removed the two screws on the bottom of the case, and gently tried opening it and couldn't get it to go without feeling like I might break something if I forced it to go.

Can anyone tell me how to open the CZ70 case without destroying it?

Thanks!
Brian

Brian i read that post and it looks interesting. I cant help on working on the CZ but please keep us posted
on the mod and how it works out . Pictures would be a bonus Thanks Mike

Hi Mike. I ran the mod by Dankowski and it looks to be a good mod.

If I can figure out how to get the darn case open :surrender: I'll be happy to post some pics of what I'm doing

Even if trained hands completed the mod always felt mod one facet and it affects the detector in another way so leave well enough alone as for a CZ newbie of sorts you are doing quite well..just my lowly opinion and others may differ...

if your CZ-70 is working real good then any messing around in the control box could lead to problems, sometimes BIG ones. If you had another then you could try it I guess. I always felt my CZ's worked fine in iron so I never felt the need to change anything :)...JMHO...HH

This is a no-harm mod which simply uses a cap to tighten the iron disc range as the higher end of it tends to report low non-ferrous conductors as iron, and this bumps them to the next ID segment. It uses an on/off switch allowing it to be disabled at will, so it's easy to return back to stock on the CZ70.

Lot's of replies, but no one knows how to open the control housing?

Here's a link to the thread posted earlier about this showing the mod done externally on the coil connector (I'd like to do a cleaner job by moving it inside the case):

I ran the mod by Tom Dankowski and he validated it as a good mod.

Just search brokendetectors and it will bring you on his site.

I got sidetracked with a new F75 LTD, so I haven't gotten to it.

Anyone have a .01uF cap sitting around collecting dust they want to let go of ?

I have found the F75 LTD and the CZ70 to be a great complimentary detecting team. I'm finding that they both find targets the other misses, and the CZ70 works great in heavy EMI while the LTD doesn't always, so it seems like I finally have all my bases for turf hunting covered with these two great detectors
