How to not discriminate the platinum??? Help

Prodigy

New member
I've never found a platinum ring. I wonder if its because i am discriminating them out. I know that gold reads lower like pull tabs. Also, on the high end bigger aluminum like silver. Any clue what platinum will read like??? I have a tesoro if that helps you answer my question. Thanks

The ring I found was with my E-Trac, and it registered very low. I think it was in the low gold range. It registers similarly with my Vision. The thing about the sound is it is solid and consistent, no warbling of the sound. That's why I dug it in the first place. Hope this helps.

I'll attempt to translate ... in that I think the low gold range means foil. If the Tesoro you have is one marked with iron, foil, etc. settings on the discriminate and not just numbers; you should be able to set discriminator at iron or no higher than between iron and foil and get what you are looking for. That is if you manage to put the coil over one.
Cheers,
tvr

The 11g Plat band in my avatar came in at 12-15. That's right in the pull tab range.

I found one that bounced from a 4 to 6 but sounded good so I dug it. My wedding band is also platinum and it comes in a solid 4. My machine is a Safari.

I'm glad you posted this. I too have a Safari, but whenever I've gone to the beach I notched out all numbers from 8 down. With my F75, I found a large platinum wedding band in a tot lot that came in at 30, which is the same a nickel, so I figured that platinum on the Safari would hit around 13-15. Wish I still had the ring for testing, but I sold it to a local jeweler along with the gold rings I found and had enough to pay for my Safari (used).

The band in my Avitar was also checked with a Safari. Also came in at 15. Platinum like gold i think can come in anywhere depending on the size. Just like gold.

My last gold on the F75 was 17, a nice 18k bracelet, so watch out if you disc out to 30
