How to make new programs on the 3030 itself without xchange etc.

LUCKY ME

New member
Is it possible to make new programs on the 3030 it self without using a computer, xchange etc. Read pgs. 32-34 in the manual, I have been able to turn screen grey (reject) or white (accept). But have not been able to scan targets in save and store? ONe other member has duplicated me but not able to go any further than I. Also can the alkaline pack be charged in the pack filled with nmhd rechargable batteries in the factory ion charger? any help on these questions will be appreciated. Thanks LUCKY ME

Okay, I'll try to get this correct. Select a mode you want to copy and press Select. Then scroll down and select Save as New. Once the new mode shows, select it, and then select the Pattern you want to edit. In this case I selected Pattern 1. After that pattern is up, press Select again and then select Reject All or Accept All. Now the entire screen is Rejected or Selected. Press and hold the check/x button until the Edit Frame Size comes up. Arrow down and select the frame size you want to use. Press the detect button, and the screen comes up to Save Pattern, select yes. Now scan your item, and then press the check/x button - once to accept, or twice to reject. This should reopen or close an area the size of the Edit Frame you selected. I use the computer to this, but I think I got all the steps in there. I was doing this on my machine and typing this in as I went.........When out detecting, if you find multiple targets with the same reading, that you don't want to find for example, you can just scan the target, and press the check/x button twice to reject that target, but your disc pattern for that mode is then changed, even after shutting down and then restarting the machine....I hope that helps.....HH

C&RHunter you get 3 A+'s. A giant thank you. I have been trying to find out the information for weeks on other forums too no avail. Have not tried it out yet. I am 70 and not fully computer savy. Have been detecting for 40+ yrs. I have quattro, se pro and new 30-30, sold the Xs. I have not tried your instructions yet but, will later today. I am sure there will be additional questions. Also thanks for doing the instructions in Andy S style, are you Andy Jr? THANKS ( LUCKY ME FOR FINDING YOU)!

Just to clarify my statement above. I use the computer to make most of my Disc patterns and Tone ID Profiles. I did scan all my silver coins, etc., for a coin pattern, just after I received my machine the first of June. Obviously, you can't scan items to create a pattern, using the computer...

Good Luck making your Mode....

No, do not charge NiMH batteries in the Li-ion charger. Page 57 of the manual says.....Rechargeable alkaline, NiMH or NiCd batteries may be used but must be removed and recharged separately.

Digger thanks for the info on charging batts in the spare pack on the ion charger. I just plain missed it. You da man! Lucky Me

New to the 3030. Only about 10 hours, but was on an ET for a couple of years. How can you rename your modes to something meaningful? I use a Mac, so I need to do this on the device itself.

Thanks for the info...
Randy

You asked a question that has since come to my mind about naming a new mode on the 3030. Just had not asked on line thanks to you for answering C&RHunter also. Lucky Me

C&RHunter, first let me say I do not own the CTX-3030 yet, but if things go as I plan, I will have one in two or three weeks. I am studying the Classroom Forum to learn some things before I get my hands on it. Anyway, you said;

Is the purpose of selecting 'Save as New...' as it is with any computer document or picture, when you use 'Save as...' it ONLY copies the document or picture but leaves the original as it was; is that what you are doing and you are only creating another mode to build on and still have the original?

Sorry, it's probably a silly question, please don't laugh at me :wiggle:

Save As New, will make a copy of the MODE you have selected. Once Saved As New, the new Mode has automatically been renamed to the next open Mode number, and the original Mode will be unchanged. Once this has been done, you can make any edits to the Patterns and Tone profile of the new Mode that you like. Like the heading implies, this is all being done in the CTX...... Not laughing on this end. Reading and asking questions will help once you get the new machine. If you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask. If I can't answer a question, there are a lot of very good people on here that can..........The more I use the CTX, the more I like it, but I still have a lot to learn....HH

I assumed this to be the case but needed to ask to be sure. I watched a video about a person using the XChange2 App and I recall him using the "Save" button at the bottom of the screen, but does the app also have a "Save as New" option as well? As I recall he opened Mode 8 and changed it but I do not recall him using a "Save as New." If he did not then the original contents of Mode 8 was changed forever, correct?

Another question, you said "the new mode has automatically been renamed to the next open mode number." I understand you were speaking about making the change on the machine and I understand it cannot be renamed on the machine, but if you "Save as New" on the xChange2 App, does the app also automatically assign the next number to the mode as well? Okay, then suppose I rename it on the app, is the next number skipped or will it simply be reassigned to the next time the"Save as New" option is used?

Thanks for your help.

There is no Save As New in the XChange2 app. You can accomplish the same thing in the app, but go about it in a different manner. In the app, I have my modes saved in a Collection called MODES. Say I want to keep my mode YARDS, but want to create another mode based on Yards. I open the MODE collection, click and grab YARDS, then drag and drop it in the FILE. (Doing this only copies to the FILE and leaves the original in it's present location. The items that are in the FILE are temporarily stored there.) After the YARDS mode has been "copied" to FILE, then click on edit on the YARDS mode, that is still in the MODES Collection. This opens the mode for making any edits to the Patterns, Tone Profile, and some settings, as well as allowing you to change the name and make some notes in the description box. Okay, I make my edits, and change the name to Yards2, and then click on SAVE. This has saved this mode, but now there is no mode in my MODES Collection called YARDS, just the YARDS2 mode that I just saved. Then go to FILES grab the mode YARDS, that is stored there, and drag and drop it in the MODES Collection. Now I have both the original YARDS and my modified "new" YARDS2 mode............That sounds like a pain, but is really quite simple, and relatively quick, once you have become familiar with the XChange2 app.....

Steve thanks for clearing that up for me. I hope I don't become a nuisance as I prepare to take on a new machine and the tricks in using it.
