How to make an external Pinpoint for Explorer XS ?

Hello,
I want to make an external pinpoint for my hipmount Explorer XS,
I see that Hard Nosed has this external pinpoint (the switch on the shaft),
if somebody has an idea to help me to make this mod?

How did you get the meter housing off the shaft? I think me coil connector has cold connections and I nedd to resolder them. How do I get to that plug.
