how to hang detector for storing?

I want some input on how you hang your detectors for winter storage.Right now they are in a corner in bedroom, wife wants them out.I will be putting down in basement and don't want them on floor.

It might be better to just remove the batteries, disassemble and then store the detector in a box, upstairs. That is if your basement has a tendency to be damp. If not, hang it any way you feel is fit. HH-CC

I also take them out and use them a little just to keep them in practice and warmed up for you when spring returns. Not only does your detector get the care it deserves, you get an email letting you know how its doing from time to time. Your detector will be very content and happy to be well cared for. Pictures of my Metal Detector Retreat will be posted upon request. Give your detector the rest and pampering it deserves for the winter!!

Your payment will allow it to fly first class from your destination to our lovely retreat. It will recieve fresh batteries and a professional rubdown. This first class service will have it rested and ready to find gold for you at the beginning of your next season!!

Mine hang from the coil. I got the idea from a shop dealer who made special brackets that you slide the coil into. They are up, out of the way, and safe.

Wow.....that sounds like a great deal! Were it not for the fact that I live in Florida, I might take you up on that sweet deal. :bouncy:

Mine are always stored in a padded detector gun style case and only taken out when in use,So just have to remove the battery for winter storage and cleaned well then put in a closet until next spring..Drats its almost that time here in Illinois..Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.........Markmac

Fritz,I would remove batteries disassemble and clean the detector store in original box out of harms way in a closet. If you don't have the original box find another cardboard box.Another option sell your equipment at the end of season and buy a new detector before the weather breaks. HH Ron

Your detector will only freeze ............. really good too.. Take you from May to August just to thaw it out .............

scubadetector----This offer sounds just too good to pass up!!!------Does your small fee include provisions for the owner(s) as well, or at least (included) visitation rights???------Back to the original question: (IMO), loose the basement storage idea (moisture)!----It scares me to even think about it, I've heard too many horror stories of damage to detectors (and many other things) in basements.-----There's some excellent suggestions by the guys here on this question----#1 being TAKE THE BATTERIES OUT!----------Del

i tie a short nylon rope in the area of thearm cuff and hang them on hooks in my unused back stairwell......it works good-no stress on coils or cables...

Just break the detector down and store it in the house. Why risk the components to temp/moisture changes. Real life story. Stored my White's (digital display) for a few winter months in a storage facility (had no choice in the matter). No batteries installed. It killed my LCD display.
