How to get the most depth? 1-Ferrous or Conductivity. 2- Disc. Pattern, IM or AM

My two questions are both about how to get the most depth (myth or fact)?
1- ferrous or conductivity - I have been told you can gain a slight advantage using conductivity?
2- Using disc. Patterns will reduce depth, but what about IM?

Both of those questions can be area specific. Patterns MAY reduce depth.... but it also reduces the amount of targets you have to listen to. On a beach a pattern can be the best way to hunt if you dont have much time or are looking for a specific target because you dig less targets. Ferr say in a field can have an advantage in iron .... you can run AM and just dig anything but iron. The conductive numbers are more accurate than the Ferr. I dont know that Bryce would agree that a pattern reduces depth .... since IM is disc and i believe he runs his at 22, just look at his finds and depths. A pattern is like a NOTCH.... where as IM is like turning a disc knob up. Both are disc.
