How to get quality work done, CHEAP !

There is a website called elance.com.

On this site, you can post any kind of projects, almost, art, writing assignment, proof-reading, web design, logo design, ad design, software development, etc.

The project is then posted for people to bid on, each of the providers, of which there are thousands, can bid on your project if they feel they can do the work you want. You can state the maximum bid you will consider. Each bidder usually has a portfolio of their work, so you can see if they have done things like this before.

I was looking for a picture of Saint Apollonia. She is the patron saint of dentists. I found a picture that was a good concept, however I could not find out who the copyright owner was so I could get permission to use the picture.

SO - I posted the picture on elance and said I wanted someone who could redo the picture and make it look like something that was created hundreds of years ago. I wanted it to look old.

Well the first picture is the one I found, the second is the one the artist I awarded the bid to created for me. Obviously I can now copyright this picture in my name, and it is so significantly different from the originl, that no one could claim copyright infringement.

Anyway I put this out for bid saying the max I wanted to pay was $200, I accepted this artists bid which was $120.

So if your gold prospecting club needs a logo, or design for their newsletter, or a website, this is a place where you can actually have people argue over getting your business cheap.

One caveat, make sure you specify that upon completion of the work all copyrights, and interests in the piece are transferred to you. This prohibits them from coming back later and trying to ask for royalty fees.

Pretty amazing, I would say.

Take care!

Thanks for that.
My son is a young graphic designer and having trouble getting work in our small town. I will point him to this site.
Love some of the 'off topic' stuff I get on this site....

He can sign up to sell his services, everything works through Elance, I think they take a small percentage off the top, but it would be a great place for your son to get some exposure and open himself to a wider client base.

As for this forum, we try to keep it related to prospecting, but I also think that this is a forum for prospectors rather than a prospecting forum.

One of the primary reasons I posted this was because Alan from Montana was asking for a picture of a prospector at Christmas time that could be used in their clubs newsletter as something the kids could color.

If all else failed he could have gone to Elance and posted the project with a top bid limit of $25 and see if someone would whip out a quick line drawing for him.

Take care!
