How to find Privys and old dump sites?

My friend and I are new to bottle digging. We live in Richmond, VA area. Can someone please share with us how find old priveys and bottles dump Sites . like what to look for in the way of the ground, and soil that we dig up.

Go to the post..(lots of bottles and stuff junk??) I posted a little on how to find a privy,so did a few others.I will get back to you on dumps later.Check out some of my digs in the link below,you can get a idea on what to do. Rick
