How to factory reset the T2?

I've been told by someone from FTP that there is a way to reset the Teknetics T2 green classic to the factory defaults.
That should fix the malfunction of the FastGrab (stuck to 90 / no cant GC message, unable to GC), this guy gave me the technical support number but i am unable to call the states so i ask here if someone know how to reset the T2.

Thank you.

The T2 is it factory default when you switch it on everytime, the factory default is also set at 90,so how are you doing a Fast Grab ??? as you need to pass the coil over some clean ground prior to attempting to FG,i cannot recall the last time that i could not do a FG and the only time that i possibly cannot do it is either when i have a massive big coil on or on a pasture site that has 100s of year of animal droppings on and those are the only times that i cannot do it.If i am using say a large SEF coil then most of the time i run it in factory default.

Only ever done a manual GB possibly once or twice since i have had the original green T2 as FG has never let me down.

So how are you doing it on your machine, what is the location or site conditions that you are currently detecting on ??? as you cannot save the settings like the F75 then a factory reset is not done or required with a T2,so not sure who gave you that information.

Hey Mega, thank you for your answer.
the problem with my T2 is that sometimes I cannot GC with fastgrab.
While pumping the coil the number is always 90, no cant GC message, nothing just 90.
No matter if i move some meters away, turn the device on/off, it happen some times and it looks like i'm not the only one with this problem.
I do prefer cancel manually but i'd like to know that my detector works fine in all his functions.

btw: next week i will get the mars tiger, it's on the road between ukraine and my country.
btw2: i know how to use the fastgrab, i mostly hunt in open fields, hills, where mineralization is higher than 40.

Here the answer i got from FTP:

I believe you can master reset the unit.

For help with this you can contact our technician for assistance.

800-413-4131 EXT 135 Lupe Guerrero can help with this issue.

In my opinion that is totally incorrect information that you have received regarding 'I believe you can master reset the unit.' if someone who i am assuming works for 1st Texas cannot give the right answer then who can.

If you cannot do a GC then its sets to the default worst situation which i understand is i think graphite, its nothing to worry about as it should in theory run fine as it is,of course it is preferred if you can but you can carry on detecting as normal.

I run my Deus most of the time in factory default as well and also my DFX,so its not just unique to T2 machines, doing a manual GB is of course possible and that should over ride the Fast Grab.

Almost certain that nothing is wrong with your machine, its just that sometimes you cannot do a Fast Grab if not just run it in the factory 90 setting.

Of course i can only speak how i would do it if i had bad ground conditions, others may do it or suggest other wise, but i have had my machine a long time and never had any major issues as such.

What ever option or suggestions folks offer i wish you a quick resolve to the problem.

Do you have Skype? If so the call would cost pennies. Alternatively, I am pretty sure they would be glad to call you. If you email them a phone # and local time when you can be reached.

I sincerely i don't know what to say, maybe my permission got some strange kind of unknow soil :) I hunt these sites from years and never had problems with any other metal detector, tomorrow i try in some other place.

I want to say that i LOVE the T2, the more I use it the more I regreet the time spent messing with sophisticated 2k tectors, i found more stuff with this T2 than with any other machine, the only thing i miss from other metal detectors i had is the backlight.

@lytle78 is not about the money needed to call, it's because my english sucks hard and I doubt that i'll be able to explain this problem by speaking, if someone is willing to call First Texas and ask i'll be extremely grateful.

I try to mail them again, Mega in my opinion there is no "master reset" too, but i've been told so. you know.

So this is if the Master Reset is the same as the F75. Which it should be .

Make sure machine is off
Then push button and hold down
Then push trigger forward.
Then turn machine on keeping button pushed in and trigger forward until all codes are loaded.

This is how I reset my F75 SE.
Now this may or may not work , but it's worth a try.

How it works out for ya , GS

Hi,
tried that procedure, I see the first two digits of the serial number flashing but nothing else, I should get an answer from FT soon and will update this post.

Doesnt it say in the manual that sometimes fastgrab might not work and you have to manually GB?

In order to avoid locking onto metal, the computer will not cancel ground
where the numbers are less than 40. Where the ground reads less than 40, manual ground
cancellation is required.

CANT GC message should pop up but it doesn't.

It (FG) does not always work on the original T2.. Trash in the ground causes a bad GB.. In that situation the Preset always works better than a bad GB..
In fact if I remember correctly..it was suggested in Discrimination mode when T'2 was first released one did not have to GB for proper operation.

Years later using a new release machine that tracked GB as you went, and showed the track on the screen. I was really surprised at how fast, and what little territory ( Ground) covered before the ground changed.
So you were not really Gb'd as you detected.. The preset seemed to work best overall in most places I hunted.

It wouldn't hurt for you to try that setting ( Preset GB).....see how it works in your dirt. You may be very surprised.

Hi Elton,
when FASTGRAB does not work i cancel manually, but when this happen then the CANT GC message should appear and it doesn't.
thanks for your suggestions, will try it.

Hi, got an answer from Teknetics:

Hello,
My apologies for the late response.
To master reset the unit you will hold the menu button down while holding the pin point trigger forward.

*did that and i was able to Fastgrab normally.
