how to build a probe

Can anybody offer any help or suggestions on building a probe. I would like a short one and a long one maybe 3-4 feet long. thought about taking some compression fittings and using some small diameter steel or something. have no idea actually about how to do it, just want to do it to help me probe areas
where I get hits on the git2500 and maybe bottle digging. assuming I ever get to feeling like going detecting in the near future.

I used a piece of 1" stainless pipe, 8-10" long, for a handle. I drilled a hole in the pipe and ran in a 3/8" stainless rod, threaded on the handle end. Using nuts I adjusted the rod to the width of the pipe handle and locked everything down.

I pointed the end of the rod and voila! A probe.
