This repair was done with epoxy the two ears on the coil were epoxied onto the stiffener which is one that has a lot of surface contact area like the one in my photo they can be bought online auction site.
Once the ears were epoxied to the stiffener then I used JB weld two part epoxy and I used some heat to help mixing them spread on the top of the coil and apply the stiffener and let it dry overnight repair is not even noticeable…

Wondering if this should just be a ‘mod’ we do that might prevent breakage beforehand..? This is greatness!
 
I've done the same procedure on my Nox 15" coil. fyi I also know from personal experience that if you tighten the coil stiffener too tight it also will break...those washers leave much to be desired. Coil stiffeners are available for the Nox 11", 15" and CTX 3030 11" and 17" coils that I know of.

That's exactly what I did and the best epoxy I found was JB weld I heat it up then mix it then apply to tabs and coil I even did mine and it was not broken

I’ll be doing this asap! JIC…
 
When I called Minelab a few tips they gave to avoid coil ear breakage.. the biggest issue they said has been... overtightened coils putting to much pressure on the coil ears....

I personally have had no issues yet... 20 hunts in with the nox... but read several posts...

I asked them for a few tips.. they mentioned cleaning and removing coil around the coil ears as rocks, sands and other tiny objects may also create issues...but said not to use any stiffener type products...

I have been going back and forth with my different coils... this time I decided NOT to buy extra shafts, batteries and all the gimmicky stuff as I did with my other detectors...

Takes me about around a minute to change coils...again the main issue>>>they said overtightening of the coil...

Probably happens plenty.
Mine broke while beach hunting. Coil head dipped as I was swinging and it hit a sand pile - the Next thing I knew it was hanging to one side

That’s all fine but the washers at the end of the shaft will wear down and that causes the coil to be more loose so most tighten it up so it’s not flopping that’s when the coil ears snap ..

It will strengthen the coil I use JB and put equal amount then I microwave it for about 20 seconds then mix then apply it’s one of the best epoxies for this application..
