Here's the gold rings I got this year with my Garretts. Most were dug with the AT Pro and AT MAX. Below is a photo with each ring indiviualized with some pertanant information

Lots of people ask?.......So where do gold rings read? The correct answer is just about anywhere. But, a lot of them can be found near +/- where pull-tabs and old beaver-tail pull- tabs read. I believe, the square (complete) square pull-tabs tend to read at about 53, unless they were buried 10+ years ago, then they tend to read higher. You really got to dig those signals in the 50's.

The mass, size, purity and what the gold is mixed with all effect the VDI readings.....

Thanks for sharing...

I see what you have showing are mostly bigger rings. Hey, if you're going to go for the gold, go big or go home right! Anyway, the vast majority I find missed by other are the smaller women and kids gold rings.

Kids gold rings you say? Yes a lot of them. In fact one of my weirder finding is not one but two 10k Mickey Mouse rings at the same school but a year apart.

As a personal opinion, AT Pro or AT MAX. Is the MAX that much better as a tot lot machine?

Thanks

I think that the Pro is just fine for tot lots. In fact, when I use the Max, I really turn down the sensitivity, as it is just too much power due to some junk, playground equipment ans some of the minerals in the sand....at least where I live.I actually prefer the ACE Series for tot lots with a smaller coil. The 6.5" x 9" on any Ace is nice and sensitive to tiny rings. The sniper coil was the best for getting close to the metal playground equipment. If I plan on doing tot lots, I often take an extra ACE with the sniper coil attached to quickly hit the tight spots and close to iron areas, then I relax and use the other machine with a larger coil.

You bring up a good point with those tiny gold rings. Some can really read low on the VDI, even down to to the tin foil areas. That's why I always say gold can show up anywhere on your detector, no matter which one you use.
