How slow is slow?

I have about 35 hours on my XS and I don't know if I am swinging to fast with it. I have got some deep wheats, but I have big trouble in trash areas. In a trash area I am worthless, I can't see how you would ever find anything in those areas. Let me know.

If its extremely trashy with non ferrous trash you could try a few things.. one being a high coin pattern with maybe nickels accepted, use a small 5 inch coil.. if its trasy you gotta go slow either way though.. maybe a foot a second or a bit slower.. doesnt hurt going slow at any site, it helps get better coverage..however in fairly clean areas I move right along at first, saving the slow sweep for the next few times over the same areas.. I usally get more in a small area covering it slow than covering a large area sweeeping faster.. Sometimes in extreme high iron spots I do little side to side sweeps through a longer sweep.. back and forth 6 or so inches each side of center then moiving the coil left or right and doing the small sweep again.. goves the explorer more time over a target to react...works good in nonferrous trash also as long as you han handle all the tones.. with a tight pattern you will be in a null, but the small sweeps should pick off most stuff

Any deep silver coins yet? Took a while for me to hit first silver.

A slow walk speed is as important as a slow swing speed. You might also consider a series of shorter slow swings too. Shorter swings allow you to keep the coil more level.. Think about it.
