below is a photo of how my detectors thing looks, as you can see I kind of have to guess what is being picked up, when I get my detector back and go check out the path throught the woods by the river should I have it set were I have it for coins and rings or should I shut the discriminator off and check every beep and hope for something good?

dig it all! we all know when you cancel out pull tabs you lose nickles cancel out iron and lose the nice relics so dig it all. just my take.

If you've found anything at all pre-1960's dig everything! Some of my very best finds showed as junk on my detector.

i always hunt in all metal mode. works good for me....dig everything and leave nothing..good luck..

mostly the only reason I don't dig in all mode is cause as I am sure you know constantly bending down to dig and then standing up to detect can make for a sore back and knees, and it is frustrating when you find nothing but junk.

I know that feeling... Just remember that after all the junk is gone the good stuff comes.
