How often do you take your batteries out?

I know the instruction manual for the AT PRO says to take out the batteries if the dector will not be used for 30 days or more. I'm just wondering, does anyone take the batteries out after every hunt? I haven't been doing it at all, because I use my detector practically every day...if I have enough time to get out for at least an hour or more. Could anyone explain taking the batteries out? I think personally that they tell you to do that to let the capacitors discharge. How often should a person remove the battieries? I would prefer to just leave them in the machine if I'll be going out just about every day.

OAK... did you ever think about when your detector is sent to you they already have batteries installed and how long have those batteries have been in there....my AT Gold and Pro-pointer
was sent with batteries installed they could have been installed more than a month or two who knows... I do know it is bad to leave batteries in toooo long some batteries do leak and some don't...

I personally have never seen batteries leak in 30 days in any electronic device. Garrett warning is just a reminder that the possibility exists that they could leak. They probably figured if you haven't been out detecting in 30 days that you probably aren't going for awhile. It is better to be safe then sorry. I have seen a lot of electronic devices ruined because people didn't take the batteries out. It might take six months or longer, but why take a chance and void the warranty.

outdoors got it right there is no need to pull your batteries out unless you are going to store your detector for a prolong amount of time.:geek:

Thirty days without using the machine? :surprised: that is not possible unless I am dead! :stretcher:
But seriously ... is good practice to remove the batteries if you do not use any electronic device often save you some annoyance. I use the device as two or three times a week, just take them off to recharge.
kind regards
