How often do you find good targets with 01 Ferrous reading?

I've had my Etrac a month or so, and one of the things I remember who has had years on his telling me is that he's never found anything good with a ferrous reading of 01. Recently, though, I've gone back and looked at Andy's book and I see that he has some coins listed as giving a 01 reading. I know there's all kinds of things that can alter what shows up (angle, depth, corrosion, wear, etc) but I'm curious how often a 01 ferrous reading is actually something I should be digging if the conductivity numbers look good...

Personally I don't pay that much attention to Fe #'s. Audio first, then co #'s, then where that cursor is more than not. Basically...if it sounds good from a few different angles I dig if it pinpoints like a coin. If all looks and sounds good but doesn't pinpoint like a coin I try and find out why or what might be messing things up and still might take a shot at whatever is giving me the good audio/co #'s.......???? I'm learning myself so don't take this as the gospel......

The really deep 11+ inch ones sometimes come in at F-1 but the Conductive is always in the ballpark albeit usually jumpy.
Whether its iron wrap around or the detector is at its threshold of detection, i always dig those.
Its sometimes a keeper and sometimes a corroded nail.

MANY, MANY indians have come in at 01-36 for me, but these are DEEP ones!

Oh Boy! I can't tell you how many 01-36 to 38 I left in the ground where I found other Indians..
Guess I will have to go back over...

Only 2, but both were Morgan dollars!

My Morgan came in at 01-42. I've also had a worn barber

One more reason to dig those Ferrous-1's
Just yesterday i got a solid 1-35 at only a couple inches.

Decided to dig just to see what it was.
To my surprise it was a 1978 Canadian Dime which are composed of a 92% steel and 5.5% copper alloy with 2.5% nickel plating.
Once out of the hole it still rang up at a 1-35.

I get FE 01's all the time on good targets - mainly on deep silver coins that are very close to the depth limits of the coil.
As long as the target ID numbers still stay fairly consistant when swung over from 90 degrees out - it's usually a deep silver coin.
So for me anyway - I take FE 01's on a solid - clean breaking target - almost as a confirmation that's its a good one !

I RECENTLY DUG A 01-36----------- OUT POPPED A DEEP INDIAN 6-8 IN.TONY az
