how often do you charge in off season?

Hey guys, I was just curious how often does everyone charge there stock batteries in the off season? How often and for how long? Thanks all and HH.

Pointer,

This is what I've always done. I never know when the last hunt is going to be, usually within 2 weeks after Thanksgiving. After ground freezes I just plug it in and leave plugged in until next season, mainly because I forget about. I guess that's the way I've been doing it for 4 years now. So far no problems.

Take care,

NebTrac

I dont even think about charging until the day before I hunt. I have a ML rechargeable, a slim pack with new AAs and a RNB lithium battery. No way I am gonna run out of power. Its winter so my machines sit in the garage and wait. Im too busy doing research to worry about batteries.

every 4 weeks on charge for a couple hours........... Just to keep the battery up..

Mine is ML2900. You can see this above of this page. Love it! Always recharge it before I go hunt and I recharge one time per month during winter that I don't use. Full mean stronger for deep coins!

I guess I am the odd one here because when winter hits I pull my battery pack out and do nothing with it till I am ready to hunt then charge it the nite before I go out, always have done this

I'm with G4E. I remove the rechargeable battery pack and remove any alkalines I have in the AA pack. I've had too many flashlights get ruined from leaking batteries.

I'm glad I had a charged battery the last couple days. I was able to get out for the first couple times of the year. You just never know when the weather might allow you to sneak in a little detecting.

I charge my mine often, as I hunt year around here, unless there is snow or ice on the ground and it's below freezing.

My question is this, is that new Battery worth it for the weight issue and it's life cycle on a charge?

I throw the battery on the charger when I remember, usually only once or twice a winter...
Again, that's IF I remember.
Never had any issues one way or the other.
I'm thankful I do remember to remove all batteries from the machines and probes at the end of each season however.

I alway's thought you should always keep a battery topped off to when not in use for a long period just to keep it freshened up.

The Battery made by RNB, is what I was referring too, I wonder how often it would need to be recharged compared to the Minelab Battery, and is it worth the price to even buy it.

only way I would pay that much for a battery would be if I was going somewhere there was no way to charge a battery ... it's not like the stock one won't make one hunt ... then there is the AA adaptor I have rechargables for ... I'm sure it's a good battery but you can almost buy a coil for that price
