How much is gold sinking over time in lakes?

I have potential target lake ... it was used for swimming 15-20 years ago,
and now it has lot's of debris on bottom ... river mud or something.

Thank you.

Not nearly as much as one might think. Most lakes have a hard pan and some have little movement. The real killer is silt and them being covered up. Water run off and such brings in mud and like any hole begins redesigning the lake.

Dew

Best advice is go in and find out :)
I am trying to get enough info so I can do it next year.

This is lake in extreme drought... one time in 10 years

We hunted a dried up swimming hole a few years back and it was amazing. To this day there is still one area we can't get to, just under the diving board, where there is still water/mud/muck from the water table depth. Many of the gold items we found were deep. Down to 12" anyway. But this swimming hole has lots of silt/mud/muck. I'd say we probably pulled at least several ounces of the yellow stuff from that site.

Omg,what are you waiting for,the window of opportunity now...next year the lake will either be full of water or weeds, take your pick, neither condition is better than what you are looking at now right? I mean do what you gotta do but every day you wait is an opportunity for someone else to beat you to it... like southwind mentions if you hit it right you could be counting your gold in ounces or if you really really get lucky you could be counting your gold in pounds like old beechnut... all i can say is play your hunches sooner or later you're gonna be right... good luck... as far as sinking rates it all depends on the bottom ... sand and fine mud things sink deeper, rocks and clay not so much... hunt it and let us know...
