Of you every once in awhile go back to a long time owned detector. I know we all like the newer , deeper, latest things out there.
"BUT"......have you gone back for a day to your say Eagle II SL,XL Pro Whites, XLT, DFX........Garrett 550, 1000, Tesoro Toltec 100, or some other that used to be the latest and greatest ????.............................You know back to "Your roots" so to say.....

Wasn't it fun. Every once in a while I just have to use my old XLT........... puts me back to a time I just enjoyed detecting for detecting. Didn't have to find the deepest, the Oldest, or even Silver..I was out doing something I loved. Detecting..just for the sake of detecting..
Try it if you haven't.You too may just find it's the kicker you need for making it fun again..............

Hi EL

I have'nt detected as long as some of the old timers on here, only 16 yrs........I started out with an XLT in 1994. The wife got a Toltec ll in the same year. Both of them great detectors. Now.....all I ever use are the old analog detectors. They are hard to beat in my opinion, and I still have the old Toltec ll and added a Toltec 100 last year. As far as the new digitals, they don't interest me and the analog detectors talk to me in a language that I'm used to. I also run a couple of analog White's, a 6000 Pro XL and a 5900 CB, they cover a lot of ground and have an excellent meter, too bad they don't make them like they used to.

Hombre:

It sure is to bad......... I would love to see a new analog machine....

I have two older detectors that I use often. A 1987 Garrett ADS MH 7 and a 1974 Compass Coin Hustler 100 KHZ TR. I only use the MH 7 a couple of times a month but I use the Coin Hustler a lot for hunting graveled parking areas and tot lots. The last two hunts with the MH 7, maybe two hours total time, produced $4.43 in new coins, three silver dimes and a large, heavy and wide mans sterling silver ring. I'd use it more often, but it's heavy and kind of rough on old arthritic joints. I paid $20 for the Coin Hustler 11 or 12 years ago and it's found enough newer coins to pay for itself many times over, plus a couple of other detectors, and it's also found a few nice gold and silver rings. The Coin Hustler is light weight, the way I have it mounted, and can be swung at breakneck speed and still hit coins and rings down to around three inches, which is about as deep as a coin can be recovered in the hard packed gravel without using a jack hammer. Hunting graveled parking lots is a tough game, but there's a lot of them here and it's amazing how many coins and other goodies are lost in them. Photo is the Coin Hustler, mounted on an "S" pole I made from the legs of a trashed aluminum lawn chair. The arm rest is from a Garrett GTA 1000.

Hi Elton I use exclusively a Whites 6000D S2 (Hip Mount) and a Eagle 2 SL 90.5. I used numerous Whites, Fisher late models and the Eagles 2 is just as deep as the others. Old coins here are no deeper than 5" unless ground fill disturbed was added. Here in So. MN coins don't sink fast over time due to the
fact that the soil is frozen 4-5 months of the year and this region has been populated for a 140 yrs sparsely too. Any $200 detector will find old coins and paying $800+ is a overkill and a waste..........just my 2 cents........worth every penny of it:clap:

Bet you there's many you haven't tried yet
