im just curious guys as to how many use sunray probes? i was thinking sometime this spring maybe i would buy the sunray xl1 probe for my xlt. i like the thought of all the features of my metal detector being used on the probe also..pinpoint,vid,etc let me know what you think! thanks alot

I had one on my Eagle spectrum it was ok. Did not add to much weight to it works well about 3in. but traded for a garrett pro pointer and i love it.just my opinion

i love my garrett pro pointer.. i have a tesoro eldorado as a backup and will use the pro pointer with it.that way my friends and i are not fighting over 1. most good ones are 125 dollars plus so i figured maybe this spring get the sunray

I just got the DX-1 last month for my V3 and have three other hand held pinpointers including the pistolprobe and have to say I'll be getting a DX-1 for the MXT now also. It's so easy and readily available, not as deep on targets as the pistol probe but more convenient and more info if needed from the V3's screen and sound from the V3 also. It took a few times out to adjust to it but once I did it

I had a DX-1 on my DFX untill I tried the Garrett Pro-pointer. With the Pro-pointer, I can take it with me no matter which of my detectors I'm using.

i see some mixed reviews. i only have 2 detectors.i already have a pro pointer from garrett and love it...im gonna keep reading any pros and cons. thanks guys!

I have one on my MXT and never leave home without it. (lol) Actually, to me the fact that it is mounted on the detector is a mixed blessing. I have forgotten separate hand held units which never happens with my Sunray. On the other hand it is only specific for the MXT, DFX etc. All that said, I really like its capabilities. It's deeper than any of my handhelds, displays just like the coil on the meter, and responds to the pinpoint trigger just like the coil as well. If I had only the one detector it's the only pinpointer I'd have. My two bits.

I have one for my DFX & XLPRO ! Wouldn't leave home without the Sunray Probe. I have many other's and used others handhelds. They just don't measure up to the sunrays. That's just my opinion:crazy:

if I could find a cheap, used, excellent shape DX-1 for my DFX I would use one.

I got lucky and bought a used one for my xlt and was worried about the extra weight . But it really helped the balance and is a great help with speeding up the digging. The best extra money i have spent

I find it the next best thing to the detector itself! Excellent sensitivity, no losing it, no additional batteries, well made.
If you have one primary detector than I feel it's the way to go. If you like to switch between multiple detectors then the practical choice would be hand-held..IMHO....

i agree, i am learning my whites xlt and will make it my main machine and use my eldorado as a loaner for friends and family. thanks for all the replys!

Dont know how i ever did it with a handheld pinpointer. I was hesitant to spend the money on the sunray, but the extra feature of discriminating with the pinpointer has saved me much time and frustration. IMHO the sunray probe is a needed coil to your arsenal.
