MY FATHER ALWAYS TOLD ME TO "MAKE THE MAN A HAND".I NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE MEANT UNTIL 1961, I WENT TO BURAS LA.TO FIND WORK..STARTING AT 4AM WE SAT IN SHERFIELDS CAFE AND DRANK COFFEE TO WATCH THE FRONT DOOR..A PARTY FOREMAN WOULD COME IN,STAND IN THE DOOR WAY AND SAY HOW MANY WORKERS HE NEEDED,,WE WOULD HOLD UP OUR HAND,IF HE CHOSE YOUR HAND YOU GOT TO WORK THAT DAY.
