I went out yesterday from 12-6pm.............and today when I woke up I am sore everywhere
my forearms and thighs are the worst, feels like I was in the gym for hours.

lot's of deep-knee bends huh???
Yeah a six hour hunt will let you know that Father Time is one relentless s.o.b. Toss in the mixture of humping hills and fighting brush when relic searching and a person can expect to burn up some calories and tax some muscles in the course of a day.

It's a hobby, sport and exercise all rolled into one.

If I'm not careful to switch kneeling positions when I dig the balls of my feet will feel it after about 4 hours, generally I just get tired instead of sore. My job requires me to be on my feet most of the time, lots of walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending so that's my workout. Detecting will work different muscles. Take small breaks, switch off which arm swings the machine, drink fluids and have a good snack handy, these things help.

my feet were fine. I work 10 hour shift in a factory on my feet the whole time. And like I said I lift weights, I squat with weight, but this was different, My thighs are still sore today......lol

its is all good I can't wait to get back out for more!

I don't know about being sore from finding stuff on my first day, but as it took 6 hours of hunting before I found my first coin, I was pretty sore:rant: in other ways!

I use a product called Biofreeze. It is rubbed on anything that is sore - back, knees, and even feet if they hurt. Highly recommended!

I swap every few minutes and it saves a heep of fatigue! Using your non dominate arm may feel a bit funny at first, but you will quickly adapt.

On one of my first outings i pulled a back muscle so bad I had to hobble back to my car. Now i stretch out before hand, similar to when I am going to play tennis or softball.
