How many of you fellers' use the 5" coil in spots?...and how many feel....

the 8" coil provides enough target separation in trashy sites?

I love the small coils on my explorers but it sure does seem like that stock 8" is a hot little laser beam in the trash on my CZ.

Your thoughts?

When I first got the CZ5 back when the first couple got this neck of the woods I was freaked out by it's ability to clean them coins out of the ground, especially at depth, that my older BH missed and the other old timers missed. I thought that this thing would never fail me in the hunted out parks of 1993 when the ground opened up anew.

I think I got the 5" coil in 96 or so after hearing from others of it's potential. Didn't like it, never got used to it, and the one I got seemed bad. Still got it though I only use it in a very few special circumstances.

Did Sun Ray make a smallie as well as the FZ12?

That little 5" gets down there bro and pinpoints on a dime!
You'll love it!

I still think overall, the 8 inch coil is the best coil for the CZ. Even beach hunting. I use the 10.5 and the 12 inch Sunray for coverage and a little more depth on the beach, but it seems whenever I hunt with the 8 inch coil, even on the beach, I find the best stuff. I use the 8 inch coil the most even on the beach.

The 5 inch coil can be cranked up a bit in terms of sensitivity, and can sniff out silver or copper with the best of them when there is a lot of modern trash around. It just takes more time to cover the area because you still have to have a moderate sweep speed.

My opinion...since you kill trashy spots with your small Sunray on the Explorer, stick with that set up.

If you do get the small coil for the CZ, I would love the hear your opinion on it in relation to the 5.5 Sunray. Thinking of getting that coil for my E-Trac but also have the 8 inch Sunray as part of the debate.

Matter of fact...I am going to PM you. If you want to try the small coil, I can send it to you.

Hockey puck gets it done and pinpoints super.. a must for a real trasy areas and remember sens. can be set higher for nice depth for a small coil...Also remember next to iron fences. playground poles, sidewalks and around trees and where the 8 won't go it gets the goodies...

You WIN either way:thumbup:

Seriously....for me they both find stuff the stock coils miss. They are just simply great coils if you are willing to slow down and be patient.

I have both of those coils and I use them more than the Procoil, and they both KILL the silver!!!!
If you have a old HEAVY trashy area..get the X-5 first, trust me!

Although am a CZ guy and have been since 92 trying them always come back to a CZ as it works for me love to see names of competitors units, coils and such mentioned with no deletions..
One guesses the powers to be love the comparisons as although old technology CZ's hang in with the best of them..
