If so how have you done in sites that you worked hard and heavy. I mainly use the Explorer XS, bought a F-75 and a CTX 3030, still mainly swing the XS. I'm convinced that there is still lots of goodies masked by iron. Watched some videos that looked impressive.
I have been swinging an XS for 12 years and love it. I have a Racer now too and it has it's plusses and minuses compared to the Explorer. I like the Explorer for the depth, sound and id. The Racer for the depth in 2 tone which is deeper then the XS hands down, the separation will kick the crap out of any FBS, the speed is incredible. Both of these machines will have a place with me when I hunt.
I hunted with James at a pounded park where only deep things are left. I got a 1857 half dime at around 10 inches with the Racer, no vdi but a sweet tone. Then I got a token 20 feet away at around a foot. I also found an 1854 Half dollar 10 inches deep buried with a clump of wire and a hunk of iron the size of a quarter on another day. I have the 5x10 and OOR coils for it and they really work.
I have been seriously thinking of trading one of my Racers for a AT PRO as I have heard so many good things but not sure I need it with the Racer.
The only thing I hate about the Minelab is the cost of the accessories. For cryin out loud, $175 for a lower rod for the 3030? $70 for one for the XS? Hell, rods for the Racer were only $16 and $10 for my Vaquero. Even their hats are $30, my Racer hat was $15 and my Tesoro hat was $10. I'm convinced that if Lesche put an "M" on the handle it would cost $800. I know I won't be buying another Minelab any time soon.
I ran the Safari and Explorer in the past. Racer is lighter weight, very deep, seperates very well, easy to set up. Also handles my mineralized soil very well.
It does not Id as well as minelab. I find the racer a pleasure to use, Its my go to machine currently.
My 2 machines are racer and omega 8000
the omega i use quick shallow hunts when i am trying to out clad the wife. the racer for slower, deeper hunts where patience counts
and with the racer you will be amazed at what you will pull out of a worked out site. it makes you want to go back to some of your
30 year old or older places
Very interesting topic as I have been debating purchasing a Nokta makro product vs a mine lab safari or maybe se pro. I would be using chosen detector for yards and park hunting as I have several other machines for other types. Just don't mesh with infinitely variable settings and menus. Thank you to the op for starting topic and for the replies
