How many aren't repairing cracks on control box

Are you waiting for a"better time" ?
Minelab believes that there are only 2% of us that have problems with the "cracks" .
Maybe some of us have not noticed them.
I would suggest any other DEALERS that have sold Explorers CALL their custumers and ASK them to check the problem areas (control box where it connects to the middle rod and also the arm rest
problem).
Let's then see if it is indeed a 2% failure rate
I believe they have allready addressed the iso rod problem.

It has to be more. I was thinking, If any of us bought a new color tv and it had a crack on the case we would raise he!! even though it didn't effect performance. It amazes me how many are willing to overlook this defect and forgive minelab! Are they trying to get out of recalling these machines? They should fix all machines, under warranty or not. I like my machine but this outfit needs to get of their a$$ and recall these things to fix this problem. Nuff said for now..D.

That Minelab really believes that the cracking problem is confined to 2% of their machines. It is plainly obvious to many of us who own the Explorers that there is a deficiency in the quality/material resulting in the various stress cracks. I think Minelab has only heard from 2% of the Explorer owners and there are far more out there who, for various reasons, haven't reported cracking problems to date.... but will be in the future when they become evident. For now we can only wait for Minelab to finish with their evaluation and necessary improvements to the Explorer. As I've seen already stated elsewhere, It is only natural for minor problems like this with any new item that is rushed into production without thorough testing. So far as I can see... we are benefitting from this instead of waiting a couple years for the machine's debut. I prefer digging those deep, nice goodies now instead of later <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> HH, Mike.

Ya know it's possible that it has mostly gone un-noticed, I'm estimating that around 8% of all Explorer owners visit and read the F/BBS forum, and out of that approximate 8% only 3% ever post or respond to posts. The other 92% of Explorer owners in the world that are not visiting and reading this forum haven't had it pointed out to them, and either haven't noticed it yet or don't realize that what's starting out is going to become worst and are holding on to them.
Because of having it pointed out to them the forum readers and posters may not reflect what is going on outside the forums in terms of whats reported, Minelab, as I think I read it said 2% 'reported', I believe that's possible when you include the non-informed owners. >>However, I do think what's posted is a flection of how many are actually cracking out there --which is a heck of a lot more than 2%.
I think it's safe to say that the cracking clasp is a design flaw that won't just go away without some re-design or plastic change. I just hope they extend the warranty on that "Flaw" because it may take a few years before the ones that are going to crack, or have started to crack do completely crack.
Of course my percentages are more or less guestimations based on availible info.
