have combo locks like this been around..more or less ..

found it near the school this am along with a
few clads and 1/2 a key ..

the shackle seems REAL coroded thats why im asking

Hi Ron! Not sure if this will help, but you might look around on Masters website, they have some history posted, though I'm unsure how extensive it is. If you hold your cursor on the decades below, it will change the box on the right which is showing the history.

Personally I don't think it's all that old (that particular style of lock), and the shackle was steel which is why it's in such poor condition compared to the brass lock.
