How long does Garrett normally take to service a Metal Detector?

I have recently sent a Garrett GTI 2500 in for service. While hunting a beach I had the search coil under water and in about 20 minutes my detector went crazy. I found that water had gotten into the search coil.
So I was wondering if anyone has sent a product back for service, if they have had good service or bad and also if they have a contact name and email?

You can contact Mary but if you just send it back they will replace it for you right away. I have sent several things for repair on my 2500 and never have I had to wait over a week total to get it back. This would depend a lot on how far you ar from them but they are really fast at the factory at repairing or replacing their products.
You should only need to send the coil not the whole machine and you could keep hunting with another coil. They dont need the machine to check out your coil.
Good luck

Grumpy,
Thanks for the quick feedback. This detector was sent back to Garrett this past week. I sent it FedEx who provided a great service getting it to Texas from Bermuda. I would be very excited if it only takes a few weeks.

Follow this link and send the form with your coil/detector. Pretty quick turnaround. Be sure to list a daytime phone as they will call you and tell you what repairs will need to be made and the cost.

I have in the past expressed mine down and arranged with Garrett to return it express (I pay) the extra shipping charges. The total time was about 8-9 days. But I am living out of the US and in Northern Canada, which also involves customs. Just regular postage is about 3-4 weeks.

I guess you have to answer how much am I willing to pay for faster shipping.

As John stated - Garrett fixes or replaces them fast, it's just the travel time that eats it up. I usually send mine priority mail and it doesn't take any time at all. You can contact Mary Penson at
maryp@garrett.com and she can fill you in.
