How long do your batteries last?????

Bought an Exp II last February. Used the rechargeable battery pretty exclusively, rarely did it ever die out, requiring the AA batteries. Now, I charged the battery over 20 hours and get 1-2 hours tops? I thought you should get more than one year out of a battery. What is everyone else getting?

im using rechargables , i have 3 sets ,i never let it go down much when im detecting , ilike a full charge for all my hunting , im on my 1st set , so i wonder too how long they last at full ability on good site ,where i think im ay find old coins i start with a good brand of aa from the store ,not rechargeable , i was told top of the line non chargables are better
panosonic makes a great battery

A lot depends on your settings. If you use AM or have a low IM or get a lot of tones trying to pinpoint they go faster. Mine last about 10 hours not 16 like the book says and im using the SE. Now AA's do get 16 hours like they should. Im going to have to try rechargeable AA's and see what they do. Those Minelab rechargeables are a bit pricy.

I have been using Sanyo eneloop Ni-MH I bought at Costco for about $30.00. The package has 8 AA 2000 mAh, 4 AAA800 mAh, 2 c size adapters, and 2 D size adapters, and the charger that holds 4 AAs or 4 AAAs at a time. These batteries will also hold 90% of there charge for 6 months while in storage. I have not timed the usage yet but, I hunt for several days for about 4 hours each day with my EX 11 before charging the batteries.

I HAVE HAD MINE FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS AND ITS STILL GOING STRONG. I LEAVE MINE ON CHARGE DAY AND NIGHT AND SOMETIMES ITS A WEEK BEFORE I GET A CHANCE TO GET OUT AND SOMETIMES LONGER. I CAN GO FOR AT LEAST 12 HOURS OR MORE BECAUSE AFTER THOSE HOURS SOMETIMES IT STILL HAS SOME BLACK SHOWING. THEYARE WORTH THE MONEY, BUT ITS UP TO YOU WHAT YOU BUY, MINE HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN YET. HAPPY HUNTING

I was just thinking about this today, I have never had my batteries die on me but I only normally hunt no more than 3 hours at a time, however in saying this I just about always have my back light on. ( I hunt mostly at night) Today I left my SE on all day, as I was hoping to fully drain the battery and then recharge, as apposed to the partial charge I mostly give the battery, which I think is a good idea to do a few times a year.

I've been using NiMh rechargeables lately, too. I've found some 2650 mAh Duracell and 2700 mAh Powerex rechargeable batteries that I'm very satisfied with.

and I love them. I have not had to charge them yet and I have been out at least twice since I bought them. The still show some juice left and until they die I am not going to give them a charge. I carry my NIMH batteries with me on a full load just for when the hybrids do finally run out.

I usually would do a couple hunts using rechargeable NiMh and don't recall having them run down during the hunt. After a couple hunts, I put in a fresh charged set.
I have three chargers and I put the charger on all night before since they are not a quick charger.
I once tried a quick charger a few years back and the batteries seem to not last as long, and I noticed the batteries got hot in the charger and discolored. Afterwards I noticed the batteries not only darkened, but swelled. I don't know nowadays if the problem has been fixed.
Checking on some of my batteries, I see some are still going since 7/03. I had wrote the month and year on them with a permanent marker back then.
I imagine different brands, different mAh rating and different chargers can make a difference.
