How is the depth of the X-Terra-70

compaired to the big brothers, XS, EX2, SE. I have the XS. Other than the loss of the Sunray pinpointer, what other features would I lose by getting a 70?

Hi Larry

I think you will find there's no loss. Ive had the SE and EX2, the balance is not that great and they're too slow for my body rhythm. Ive had 2 DFXs they're too touchy and have issues. IMHO. the X-70 is an under-rated machine, you'll find it has great depth, lightweight, good balance and isn't a slow motion machine.

the 70 grabbed me mainly because at the time I was looking for a detector that could "Do it all" so to speak. While the Exp II is an awesome machine I needed a detector that was also sensitive on gold species and nuggets and the 70 certainly is all that. As far as depth goes the 70 holds its own against the Explorer series and is a much lighter detector. A friend of mine uses a 14" coil from coiltek on his Exp II and loves it and wish there was a similar size coil for the Terra series..................even a 12" coil would be nice for big parks and large flat areas. Apart from that the 70 in my opinion is one of the best detectors out there today for $$ value and versatility.
Cheers!

Hi Larry, I went from an XS to the X-70 and find it is plenty deep, the best I have done is a small button at 13" with the 10.5" DD coil. The XS seemed unbalanced and almost awkward to swing, also I didn't like the display. The X-70 is very simple to use, lightweight and has a nice, big display. You do have to balance it where you don't the XS, but that isn't a big deal. And there are enough coils available now to cover most any ground or hunting situation. Like the below post stated, it is underrated but people are catching on. And it is a Minelab, after all. Ron

Thanks to all for the info.

Hi Ron......I'll be out your way this weekend. Nancy and I will be going just East of Saratoga NY this weekend. I'll give a  your way.
